Biofilmography
Alessandro Navarino, born in 1995, attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in the course of multimedia arts and new technologies, initially specializing as a Storyboard Artist, and then moving behind the camera directing several live short films. At the same time, he continues to dedicate himself to animation, in particular 2D animation, and then he founds Alexander Studios, which includes a small group of artists. “Musintasia” is his first animated short film.
Director statement
The idea for the film was born from the previous experiences as an entertainer at children’s parties. During these holidays there were frequent occasions in which he witnessed arguments (sometimes very heated) between parents, with their respective children sad and embittered as they watched them. To try to make these children smile again, the entertainers turned up the volume of the music, inviting them to dance and forget what had just happened, and this “technique” proved extraordinarily effective in making everyone smile again.
From this incipit Musintasia was born, although it was initially thought of as a live action short, in the end it was decided to make it in animation, given the potential offered by this technique, especially in the representation of the protagonist’s dreams. The film was animated completely by hand on paper, at a later stage the animations were scanned and brought to a PC, to be able to be inked, colored and assembled.
