Director statement
Intuition, the dreamlike, the magic are realistic matters for the artist. With them, there is a familiarity that unites it to the young people or to a place in the world that links the daily life to the sacred. The artist knows the harmony of contrast. It controls the light and shadow. It follows the mysteries of art and its transformative power. It shapes the matter. It flips the top and the bottom.
It disorders, plays with chaos. Finally, in the scrap it meets the wonder. The creative act brings it closer to the divine, as long as it faces the unknown and does not fear the abyss. Art is freedom and bondage, development and separation. It is a continuous disappearance, almost sinking and re-emerging. The film metaphorically follows the myth of Kore, the girl kidnapped by Hades. In the underworld Kore is a prisoner and queen.
To appease the desperation of his mother Demeter, who made the earth arid and desolated the men who lived, Zeus grants Kore to return, provided he didn’t eat anything. The few pomegranate grains swallowed by the girl will divide her between two worlds, and will determine the alternation of the seasons, the cycle of death and rebirth. Abducted by mysterious traces, the artists move away from reality, and when they return another world emerges in their works. Offered with a new look, reality blooms again.
