Director's statement
With La Ricerca, we wanted to tell a story that feels distant but is alarmingly close. The idea stems from a real emergency: the global water crisis, a problem many ignore but that could soon become our reality. We aimed to explore not only survival but also the moral dilemmas that come with it: how far would we go to save ourselves or those we love?
The visual approach of the film is stark and raw, with cinematography that enhances the oppressive heat and the desolation of an arid world. The direction focuses on the protagonist’s emotional tension, following her through a physical and psychological journey with no easy way out.
This film is a visceral and unfiltered experience, where silence weighs as much as words, and every drop of water becomes a symbol of both hope and desperation.
